Knit & Crochet Musings

Cozy goes out into the world. Cozy gets remade & restocked. Proving a yarn conjurers life is as circular as her knitting needles.

Knit & Crochet Musings

The yarn conjurers life is repetition almost to the point of meditation. It's never boring, progress is always made & a useful article is the endpoint.

work in progress: derailed knit fail

not all adventures in yarn lead where you wish nor are resounding successes. in the case of this scarf, i began but found after seeing the striated color pattern emerge that, given the stitch, i'd rather go another way with the yarn. i haven't an actual frog pile but this is going to be frogged before nightfall to be worked into something awesome.

completed: bulky alpaca blend knit scarf

i finished knitting this last night. i love the pastel color wisps in the yarn & i'm fairly excited to give the skeins of this yarn in purple the same treatment. for the life of me, i can't recall where i got this yarn but it's been in my yarn stash for a while. i'm glad i've got around to using it.

work in progress: bulky alpaca blend knit scarf

after a rifle through my yarn stash, i came upon a bulky alpaca blend that's been begging to be used for too long. so, out came the circular needles, i poured a glass of chardonnay and set to work. this is it's current progress and it looks even better knit than it does in skein.

personal knitting: big citron cowl

it's always nice to get some personal knitting in, so when i had some time recently, i whipped this citron cowl up for myself. i'd made a cowl for my madre & wanted one for myself. :) thr citron color is a fave but i don't often run into yarn that shade.

work in progress: ribbed thermal knit scarf

i began knitting this scarf yesterday afternoon & while i've not had much time to work on it, it's coming along nicely. the yarn is a soft, sqishy lamb's wool & acrylic blend & i'm using double strands here on circular needles.

baby it's cold outside so grab that cowl!

This past weekend I was rifling through my yarn stash & came across
some blue mosaic wool that I have had for a while. I decided to also
dig out my circular knitting needles & whip up a cowl. It didn't take
long & because I'm a crochet kind of chica, I skipped that whole
knitting bind off & crocheted my cast off (call me lazy but it's
faster for me). Anyway, I was going to give this to my husband to wear
when & if we see snow again, but it's so cold today (19 degrees!!!)
that I'm wearing it out myself. It's a wool kind of day.

I've been in a knitting mood lately & have some alpaca yarn that I've
been wanting to make something for myself out of (something I rarely
seem to get around to). I foresee a pretty orange cowl in my future.
;)
